The Awful Truth

Each year nearly approximately 2 million people, just in the UK, suffer some form of domestic abuse - 1.3 million female victims (8.2% of the population) and 600,000 male victims (4%)   

130,000 children live in homes where there is high-risk domestic abuse 

62% of children living with domestic abuse are directly harmed by the perpetrator of the abuse, in addition to the harm caused by witnessing the abuse of others 

On average victims at high risk of serious harm or murder live with domestic abuse for 2-3 years before getting help

85% of victims sought help five times on average from professionals in the year before they got effective help to stop the abuse (Safe Lives 2021)

The DASH risk assessment provides a evidence based tool which enables professionals to assess the level of risk faced by victims of domestic abuse.

Formulated from research from Domestic Homicide Reviews as well a Serious Case Reviews, the DASH identifies those victims which are at serious risk of serious harm or death.

 

This training will enhance your understanding of abuse and violence as well as taking a close look at the DASH, how best to complete the form and how to develop your professional judgment skills.
